Can you feel it coming? Spring is just around the corner and while we’re anxiously longing for the return of song birds, warm weather and longer days; on a primal level we’re awaiting the promise of a fresh start that spring seems to herald each year.
What better time to delete the clutter from your home and environment. I’ve written numerous Feng Shui posts on this subject so my objective here is to not so subtly kick you into action.
Feng Shui is the 5,000 year old art of placement. Practitioners believe that what you have in your home and how you place it affects the flow and energy of your environment and ultimately your life.
So how to start over for Spring? Get rid of your clutter! After working with clients for the last 13 years, I believe that clutter is 100% to blame for most of the negative Feng Shui issues I encounter.
Most clients trying to lose weight tend to hold on to clutter, and 10 out of 10 times clients that are pack rats are having money issues.
When we’re afraid to let go of “things”, we’re tapping into poverty consciousness. We’re not trusting that if we need the item we’re not currently using at another time, the resources to replace it will be there.
My rule? If you don’t use it, lose it.
If you’re having a hard time parting with Aunt Violet’s Christmas gift from 1998, consider someone else out there less fortunate that would probably treasure it.
Even if you regret giving it away years from now; chances are there will be a new and improved version available. When we hoard or refuse to let go, it sends a signal to the brain that you’re keeping things “just in case”. Just in case thoughts sound like this: What if I won’t be able to buy it again? What if I can’t afford it when I need it? What if I regret not having it anymore?
What if is a sign that you’re in fear and as you know, there’s no power in fear.
What is powerful is to let go and create a vacuum in your life of space for something new to flow in; trusting that if you need it, you’ll have a way to get it again.
Want to make an instant impact that you’ll feel immediately? Take a garbage bag and fill it with 10 things from each room of your house. Then take that bag to a donation site before you can change your mind.
If it’s broken, fix it or recycle it. If you don’t use it, donate it.
Your mantra while doing this?
“If I don’t use it, I’m going to lose it. I’m not going to keep things just in case.
I trust the universe will provide me with what I need when I need it. There is someone out there that needs this more than me and will use this rather than my keeping it just in case.”
Remember, hoarding reinforces poverty consciousness, blocks the flow of abundance, and always represents “holding on” which in turn; according to Feng Shui, leads to weight gain.
Spring is the perfect time to start over and clear the decks for the coming blessings. Getting a jump start on it will feel wonderful and open you up to focus on other things.

Cathi, thank you for reading and for taking the time to write. Glad to know we're all in this together. :-)
Thanks Tamara. I'm a fan of the 'when life falls apart' post and am reading it again, was profound too the first time you posted it. I'm growing, growing, growing. Trying to raise my awareness to a level I have not visualized yet, but I know is out there. Watch out, world ;) Cathi ♥
